The Importance of Proactively Hiring Security Services in Texas

The Importance of Proactively Hiring Security Services in Texas “Texas is a unique state,” says Jeff Moore, Regional Manager for the Texas Southwest Region. “And the reasons it is so unique are the same reasons Texas business owners should proactively invest in business security guard services.” Moore emphasizes that Texas is an industrial state with two ports that operate massive shipping and receiving operations. “Tons of industry and commercial business comes through Houston,” Moore says. “Texas is also a border state with many unique warehousing and logistics companies have security needs related to their involvement with cross-border trade.” “The Houston area is also very unique to commerce.  Two of its cities—Sugarland and Pearland—are among the fastest growing cities in the country. With growth comes crime.  And with crime comes the need for excellent security guard companies.” “Texas is not a poor state,” he continues. “It’s a thriving and industrial one. But it presents challenges to every business owner and requires them to take extra steps to keep themselves safe.” In Moore’s view, the solution to Texas’s unique situation is obvious: Texas businesses need security services and the best security guards before their security and their business are threatened. Proactive Versus Reactive Approach to Security Many business owners wait for a robbery or other situation to occur before hiring a security services firm like United American Security (recognized as one of the best security companies in Texas). But that’s the wrong tactic, argues Moore. Engaging with United American Security from the start will save your company considerable costs, both in human and financial capital, related to preventative measures. Seven Reasons...

Strong Leadership Yields Success

Strong Leadership Yields Success Scott Leonard currently leads United American Security’s Mid-Atlantic region, the company’s largest region.  Before joining United American Security, Mr. Leonard built and sold several other security guard companies. Prior to that, he worked as a police officer. And his first job was serving our country in the United States Navy for eight years. On the face of it, Scott has had a variety of roles: manager, police officer, Navy officer. But in Scott’s eyes, “I have basically done one thing my whole career.  I have been a positive leader.” A Home Run The United American Security Mid-Atlantic Region is lucky to have Scott at the helm. In the security services industry where discipline, law enforcement, and business skills merge, Scott’s background is a home run for the company. His history as a police officer provided him with the experience of diffusing difficult situations.  Between the Navy and the police force, Mr. Leonard also learned to handle weapons responsibly.  Recognizing the importance of these skills, some states, including Pennsylvania and New Jersey, actually require licensed security officers to have a law enforcement background. During his time as a security guard company owner, Scott mastered the nuances of building a business. “You must have a business sense to be successful managing a large region like UAS’s Mid-Atlantic region,” emphasizes Scott. “You need to know how to run a profitable business. You must grow revenue and watch the bottom line at the same time. Our company does a little over 100,000 security hours per week; that’s over 5 million man-hours per year. More than 99.9 percent of the...
